The bungalows are just 3 years old. They were constructed in Bali, Indonesia then imported to Isla Bastimentos, Panama just offshore from Bocas del Toro. Here the bungalows were re-constructed on Red Frog Beach with an eco-friendly twist.

Red Frog Bungalows uses solar power, spring-fed filtered water, grey water evaporation canals, and plantation grown woods for the construction of homes and furniture. Rapid development in Bocas has strained the power, sewage and water systems. Red Frog is happy to be off the grid and not contributing to this growing problem. It is not difficult but it does take careful planning and a desire to make a difference.
The setting is a lush tropical garden only steps away from the beach. The gardens are landscaped with tropical flowers from throughout Panama. Everything on the property was planted to create a very private atmoshere without the use of walls. The tropical gardens are the walls.
The Tropical Gardens are 4 years old now and many exotic haliconia, plumeria, gardenia, palms, and hibiscus are starting to produce large amounts of flowers. Not only do they smell good but the nectar produced in the flowers attracts large amounts of Butterflies and Hummingbirds. One of our regulars to the garden is The Blue Morpho. This butterfly is one of the most exotic in the world. The hummingbirds are also very abundant. Panama has the largest variety of hummingbirds in the world. At Red Frog Bungalows you will see many of the species just sitting on our patios. Parrots, yellow-tails, seahawks, woodpeckers, and pelicans are a few of the other hundreds that have been identified in the Bocas del Toro area.

THE SURF
When the swells arrive, Bocas Del Toro has some of the best variety and quality waves of any destination in the Caribbean. At Red Frog Bungalows, co-owners Scott Balogh and Scott Beck have surfed all over the world including Australia, Tahiti, Indonesia, Mexico, California, and Hawaii. They have pioneered many spots in the Bocas Del Toro area. Nobody has the experience Red Frog Bungalows has in Bocas del Toro.
There are over ten good waves within twenty minutes from the resort. Some of these are world-class. You will explore these waves from the comfort of your facility, traveling to all locations via boat. Fast 26-foot boats will drop you right by the take-off point, and if requested, anchor in the channel to serve as a rest stop.
Cold beverages, towels and shade are never more than a short paddle away with this top notch surf package. The surf in Bocas Del Toro challenges beginners and professional alike.
For the past 3 years Red Frog Bungalows has catered to the best professional surfers in the sport. Matt Archbold, Dan Malloy, Russell Smith, Billy Hume, Brett Simpson, Ben Mcbrie, Nick Jiampa, and Sam Hammer to name a few. Some of the largest and heaviest waves ridden in the Caribbean and were featured in June 07 of Surfer Magazine called Panamania. Red Frog was also featured in an article in March of 2008 in surferthemag.com.

The season starts early December and begins to fall off in early April. The peak of summer can also produce a mini-season during the months of June and July. There are some epic days during these months and the waves are usually cleaner due to more favorable weather conditions. While there can be some big days during these months, the summer season does not compare with the winter in terms of duration or consistency.
Red Frog Bungalows does not like crowds so if you have the ability, we will take you to rarely surfed breaks all over Bocas. Red Frog staff are the only ones to surf the world famous Silverbacks and are not scared of surfing the biggest waves that Bocas del Toro can produce. Come surf with the best and forget the rest. Red Frog Bungalows have it covered!

If you surf, they’ll take you to a variety of epic beach and reef breaks that offer powerful waves that barrel left and right. We were fortunate to have an underwater camera and video to be able to capture not only the surfing but the clear blue water and lush green landscapes that surround every beach. Personally, it was a very special getaway for all of us, but there was no doubt that our kids experienced a trip of a lifetime and learned so many positive lessons on life from Scott and his staff. To Scott, Matt and Jaime, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a truly magical experience. You are to be commended for all that you do to make your guests feel special. Red Frog Bungalows policy with regards to reservations and payment is that 50% of the amount due is payable upon making the reservation in order for us to hold a bungalow. The remaining 50% is due fifteen (15) days prior to your arrival. In the event that you have to cancel or reschedule your trip, we will provide you with a 100% refund as long as you reschedule.
There is a 50% non-refundable deposit if you decide to cancel. If you cancel within the forty five(45) days prior to your arrival we will refund 30% of your deposit amount. If you cancel within 30 days of your scheduled arrival you will not receive any of your deposit amount. If you reschedule, Red Frog Bungalows will credit all paid amounts to your rescheduled trip. No refunds on reservations during high season.
